The St Brigid’s
College Italy tour group are half way through their adventures, and are still
pumped for more!
After a staggering 27 hours on planes from Melbourne to Singapore to Dubai to
Venice, the group spent three days, from November 16 to 19, in Venice. During
this time, they not only walked around a city whose main form of transport is
boats, but also visited the Murano island glass factories, indulged in a gondola
ride along the canals, and enjoyed the atmosphere of a city that has no cars(but
plenty of bridges!).
A day was then spent in Milan, where the group delved into history and culture
with visits to the Duomo and Da Vinci’s “The Last Supper”,
while also enjoying the fun and frivolity of the fashion capital of the world.
November 20 took place in Verona, where students, Angela Plazzer and James Wimbury
re-enacted the balcony scene from Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”
under “Giuletta’s” balcony. Then, for the rev heads, there
was a fun visit to Galleria Ferrari (the Ferrari Gallery, where they saw models
of the famous cars).
Five nights were then spent at Florence. Highlights there have included seeing
the Statue of David, the Uffizi Gallery, trekking the Cinque Terre, enjoying
the views of San Gimignano and Siena, and climbing the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
Now, with only half the trip left, they can’t wait to experience the cultures,
fun, and adventures coming up in Sorrento, Rome, and Paris!
Ciao!
