At St Brigid’s College there is a range of Scholarship opportunities available for students from Year 7 through to Year 12.
St Brigid’s College is committed to giving every student a fair chance to receive a Catholic education. The College offers a number of scholarships to support student learning and assist with tuition, fees and levies.
St Brigid’s College offers the following Annual Scholarship Program:
Sister Brigid Arthur was the Foundation Principal of our College in 1968. Since that time, Sr Brigid Arthur has worked tirelessly to advocate for the rights of refugees within the High Court of Australia
The scholarships are awarded to students who display talent in a variety of areas including, but not restricted to;
- leadership
- commitment to community service
- sport
- performing arts, visual arts
- academic ability
and of equal importance, sustained commitment to their studies.
The scholarships are offered to give students opportunity to develop their talents in a quality educational environment, that they may not otherwise access without such support.
The scholarship is for a period of up to one year and students can apply in subsequent years.

This scholarship was initiated by the Ballarat Diocesan Finance Council and is made available on an annual basis to support a current student in Year 10 as they move into Year 11.
The Scholarship, sponsored annually, is to the value of $1,000. Final approval of this scholarship rests with the Bishop of the Ballarat Diocese and will be presented at the final Mass and Awards ceremony held at the end of the school year.
The criteria for the award of this scholarship are:
- Demonstration of leadership potential and student advocacy
- Community involvement characterised by actions of justice
- Consistent academic application reflective of a commitment to study.

This bursary honours the memory of Margaret Simonds and we give recognition to her visionary work in the adult educational field.
The late Margaret Simonds was the founder of On Track Learning in the late 1980’s and she established a network of local literacy coordinators around the region to provide volunteer tutors to literacy students.
Margaret possessed the following qualities and attributes: Faith, Leadership, Innovation, Inner strength, Vision, Perseverance, Communication, Lateral thinking, Humour and Enterprise. The recipients of these bursaries will possess and demonstrate these attributes and qualities.

The College offers a number of Bursaries to existing and incoming students in addition to Scholarships. Some of these are under arrangement with external groups such as Ss Michael & Johns Primary School, Australian Defence Force, RSL and the Wimmera Southern Mallee LLEN, to name a few.
Each year the College awards various academic, leadership and service ursaries to existing students. These Bursaries range in value and are presented at the College Graduation Mass and Awards Ceremony at the end of the school year and are applied toward the following year’s tuition fees.
St Brigid’s College offers a limited number of Bursaries to aid financially and socially disadvantaged families. The Bursary Fund enables the College to establish places for worthy students from a wide range of backgrounds to attend St Brigid’s College.
Special bursaries or fee remissions based on financial hardship, are subject to written request by the family using the College special application form. These are awarded at the discretion of the Principal or Business Manager and assessed on the information provided by the applicant. Bursaries are usually offered on a year-by-year basis.
Bursaries usually cover part of a student’s tuition costs but may include other peripheral costs for items of school uniform or text books. The nature of a bursary is determined by the Principal.
The application form provides detail on information required, but in short, applicants will need to provide documentation in support of all statements made and adequate personal and financial information to enable the school to make an informed decision.
The special Bursary application process will remain strictly confidential and reviewed by the Principal and Business Manager in the event of a change in family circumstances. These Bursaries are conditional on the family maintaining the agreement put in place as part of the Bursary approval.
