Career Confidence

On Friday, Year 11 students participated in the 'Lead and Elevate' workshop, presented by the Wimmera Southern Mallee LLEN and Horsham Rural City Council. The included a series of engaging guest speakers, each delivering powerful messages about leadership, self-growth and resilience.

Former St Brigid’s College student, Levi Mellington, shared his personal journey and how taking chances led him to his passion for music. One of Levi’s key messages encouraged students to be brave and give things a go.

Luke S Kennedy, a guest speaker known for his work on mental wellbeing and self-confidence, shared his own challenges and the mindset shifts that helped him grow. He spoke about the power of positive self-talk, staying true to your own path, seeking support when needed, and recognising the impact of kindness and personal accountability.

Psychologist, Sarah Rowe, delivered a session on 'Psychology of Success'. She highlighted the importance of understanding how we learn, embracing our multiple intelligences, and cultivating qualities such as mindfulness, self-kindness, common humanity, and self-compassion.

In the second half of the day, students participated in hands-on workshops focusing on leadership, personal branding, strategies to thrive, and self-care.

We are grateful to the WSM LLEN and HRCC for making this valuable learning opportunity possible. Now, the challenge for our students is to reflect on what they’ve learned and identify how they can put these insights into action.
