Our Year 10 students recently completed a week of work experience across many different industries in Horsham and surrounding towns. This program offers students a valuable opportunity to step out of their comfort zone, challenge themselves in real-world settings, and begin explore career pathways.
Students took time to reflect on their experience and how their placement and whether it has inspired them to explore that career or industry further:
"I enjoyed my experience at Horsham Special School and I could definitely see myself in disability care one day." - Riley O, Horsham Special School
"I'm interested in pursuing this career as I found the journalism aspects very enjoyable." - Ted J - ACE Radio
"I did enjoy aspects of it but I don't think it is the field for me and I think I need to open my options a bit more" - Iris S, Fur Life Vet
"Working at a primary school inspired me to pursue education, I enjoyed helping children learn and found the work very rewarding." - Olivia Z
Students reflected on their week, sharing the new skills and knowledge they gained:
"I learnt about the proper use of a battery driver and grease gun, the process of doing a 100 hourly inspection, and engine change on an airplane." Liam C - Horsham Aviation Services
"New skills I developed were introducing myself to young kids, getting along with all of them, helping them out and talking to lots of different people." Tayla H - SMJ Horsham
"I learnt how to take out a perm, and that communicating with strangers isn't a scary thing." Ella M - Sassi
"I learnt about the perspective as a school teacher and it was really cool what they do behind the scenes." Hannah P, SMJ Horsham
