Sport

Sport is offered as part of our curriculum, extra curricular programs and, for aspiring athletes, opportunities for qualification in regional, state and national competitions. The program encourages participation, fitness and enjoyment. Each student is placed in one of three houses to compete for points: Clontarf (blue), Kildare (green) or Melleray (red). The House Captains assist with organising sporting activities throughout the year and encourage participation within their respective houses.

School Sport

For students who enjoy sport, competing in our House Swimming and Athletics Carnivals provide an opportunity to shine. The thrill of whole school competition fosters cooperation and fair play across all year levels, strengthening peer bonds and creating lifelong memories.

As an affiliated member of School Sports Victoria, we provide opportunities for students to represent the school across a wide range of individual and team sports. Sports include athletics, basketball, cricket, cross-country, golf, netball, swimming, tennis and volleyball.

Sports Academy

The specialised Sports Academy curriculum enables Years 8 and 9 students who have an identified talent or interest in a particular sport, the opportunity to further develop their skills including the areas of Sports Psychology, Biomechanics, Nutrition, Coaching, Training Principles and Methods, Injury  prevention and Mindfulness.

WestVic Academy of Sport

From 2026, selected St Brigid’s College students have the opportunity to participate in the WestVic Academy of Sport (WVAS) program. The program supports high-performing student athletes who are committed to excelling in both their sporting and academic pursuits, and offers structured development opportunities within a supportive school environment.

The program provides access to specialised services and expertise that complement and enhance students’ existing coaching, training, and competition environments. WVAS forms part of the Victorian Regional Academies of Sport (VRAS) network and delivers a direct and recognised pathway to the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) and State Sporting Organisation high‑performance programs.

Participating students will have access to expert coaching, sport science services, and personal development workshops, helping them grow as athletes and individuals. Each student will complete comprehensive fitness testing and receive detailed feedback on their performance, alongside a personalised strength and conditioning program tailored to their sporting needs. Students will also attend the High Performance Day, where they will visit Federation University’s Exercise and Sports Science Hub.
