St Brigid’s College has gained a reputation for its entertaining, quality shows and showcases the performing arts talent of students from years 7-12. Our students have retold many different stories and have further developed their performance skills from portraying a range of characters and genres in music over the years.
Students develop self-confidence and skills as well as knowledge and understanding about the many aspects of the production process; including the auditions, rehearsals, theatre set-up and performances.
St Brigid’s College has produced a high caliber of school musical productions over the years which has included many talented students – both on stage and behind the scenes.
In response to protocols outlined for Catholic schools by the Catholic Education Commission of Victoria (CEOV) and advice from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) regarding COVID-19, St Brigid’s College’s 2020 production of Cinderella has been cancelled. Unfortunately, rescheduling the production to a later date in the school calendar is not a viable option.
We understand that this news will be disappointing for many students and families, however consideration for the health, wellbeing and safety of all members of our school community is paramount. The nature of future rehearsal and choreography sessions do not abide by the strict social distancing guidelines suggested by the DHSS and we feel it would be irresponsible to allow this activity to continue in the light of other similar cancellations. The unprecedented nature of this situation has made it difficult to proceed with planning with any great certainty.
